The short version: SkyWatchNEO collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything the app stores stays on your device, and the only network requests it makes are to NASA's public asteroid data API.
None. SkyWatchNEO does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user account. I have no way to identify you or your device, and I receive no data about your use of the app.
The app saves the following locally, using your device's standard app storage:
This data never leaves your device except as described below, is not backed up to any server I control, and is permanently deleted when you delete the app.
To display flyby data, SkyWatchNEO requests information from NASA's Near Earth Object Web Service
at api.nasa.gov. These requests contain only the date range being viewed and an API
key — the app's own key, or yours if you have entered one in Settings. They carry nothing that
identifies you.
As with any web request, NASA's servers receive your device's IP address and may log it under their own policies. That handling is governed by NASA's privacy policy, which you can read at nasa.gov/privacy. No information about you is sent to me or to any other third party.
If you enable notifications, they are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Sky Watch does not use push notifications, does not register a push token, and does not operate any notification server. Nothing about your notification activity is transmitted anywhere. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's Settings or in your device's system settings.
The app includes links to external resources such as NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies. Opening one leaves SkyWatchNEO and takes you to a site governed by its own privacy policy. I am not responsible for the practices of sites I link to.
SkyWatchNEO is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app collects no data at all, there is nothing to request deletion of.
SkyWatchNEO contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers of any kind. No data is sold, shared, or used for marketing, because none is collected.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top. Material changes affecting how data is handled will also be noted in the app's release notes.
